Mocca '09

This is the Simple Routines page from last year's Mocca, but the sentiment remains the same for this year's show. You can check out One Percent Press' Flickr page for some photos of the show. Joe Lambert also has some good ones of the gang.

Lots going on. Hopefully I'll have some exciting things to post, interspersed with some pages from Simple Routines (issues 10 and 11 are NEW and will be available from the One Percent Press website soon!) Keep an eye out!!!

Free Comic Book Day!!

We're doing a little promotion for Free Comic Book Day over at One Percent. Order any comic from our online shop this Saturday (May 2nd) and we'll include a free copy of my mini comic, Adrift. Sweet!!

Name some characters!

These are the two supporting characters of the comic I'm working on. Hopefully it'll be done by SPX... unless it gets way long, which it might.

So they don't have names yet. If you can come up with something good, post it in the comments section. If I choosea  name you post for one of them I'll send  you a copy of the comic for free when it's done. If you come up with the names of both characters I'll send you the original drawing.

The blue one is an amnesiac dodo bird and the green one is a runt mountain troll that poops diamonds instead of coal. Go for it!!

SPX!

In the thick of SPX preparation. Everything is printed, just needs to be put together (the easy part.) There were a few set backs, so my new book isn't exactly how I wanted it to be, but it's still cool. Here's a little piece from one of the pages:

I also did a nine page story for an anthology with all the One Percent Press comic artists (including Mr. Stephen Floyd, who's story is totally rad, there's a dragon!) Here's a panel from my story:

Pretty excited about this weekend! Can't wait to see everyone and trade some comics!!!

It's finally here!

The Last Invisible Boy

I spent a good chunk of time illustrating this book last year and the finished product finally arrived in my hands today. It turned out better than I could have hoped for. It really is an awesome story. The book hits shelves on October 21st (You can preorder it here.) There's 163 of my drawings inside this 234 page book about a boy who has lost his father and is starting to turn invisible. It's written by the amazing Evan Kuhlman

There will definitely be more posts about all this closer to the release date.

It's definitely summer time...

Almost 90 degrees here in Minneapolis. I guess the Republicans are bringing the heat with them.

Some of you might have already seen this, but oh well. Thanks for looking twice.

Skateboard!

Been back from MoCCA for awhile now. It was a great show regardless of some obvious set back (deadly heat wave!) Thanks to everyone who came out.

I put together this image for a skateboard and a had single deck made. I'm pretty stoked on how it turned out, even though the colors are a little faded. I've always wanted to have my art on a skateboard, so here we go!

Now, my question is... do people buy skateboards? Is it worth making more of these?
